Ara: A 30-year-old man, Pintu Kumar, a resident of Birampur village under Gidha police station area in Bhojpur district, was allegedly crushed to death by a speeding truck on the Ara-Patna highway near Kulhariya village under Koilwar police station area. The incident occurred on Tuesday night when Pintu was returning home with his friends after visiting a Dussehra fair in Ara.Angry over the death, locals blocked the Ara-Patna road on Tuesday night, demanding adequate compensation for the bereaved family and the arrest of the truck driver.Koilwar SHO Sushant Kumar Mandal and local representatives, including a former mukhiya of Kulhariya panchayat, persuaded the protesters to lift the blockade after assuring them of appropriate action under the law.“The police investigation is underway to identify the truck and nab the driver involved in the accident,” the SHO said. Police sent the body to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for post-mortem.
