Noida: A locked flat at a highrise society in Greater Noida’s Sector Zeta 1 was robbed while the owners were out of town. Police said they are questioning the family’s domestic help in the case as investigation suggests the accused knew where to look for valuables.Arpan Jha, a teacher who lives with her parents in ATS Dolce society, told police that her family had just returned from a trip to their hometown in Bihar around 12.20am on Thursday when they found the locks of their almirahs were open. Jewellery and other belongings were missing from the home and liquor bottles had been left behind, she said in her complaint. They called police around 10am.Jha left for Bihar on Oct 17 to attend a family function.“It appears that the suspect may have been familiar with the jewellery and the location of the keys. There were no apparent signs of forced entry or indications that the house had been extensively searched,” an officer said.Police said they are looking into how the unknown accused gained access to the flat and whether anyone had prior knowledge of the family’s movements and the valuables kept inside. There were no CCTV cameras installed on the balcony or in the passage leading to the flat, which could have helped identify the suspect, police added.Investigation revealed that the family had hired a new domestic help three months prior, who had come recommended through another member of the society. The person is being questioned to establish whether they had any role in the theft or have information that could help investigators identify the suspect. Police have not yet confirmed anyone’s involvement.Police said CCTV footage from the society and surrounding areas was being scanned and further action will be taken based on the evidence gathered.
