Anant says JD(U) finished, hints at forming own party after expulsion

Patna: A day after his expulsion from the JD(U), Mokama MLA Anant Singh launched a blistering attack on the party’s current leadership on Sunday, saying the JD(U) “is finished” and will struggle to win even 10 seats in future elections. The legislator also announced his intention to float his own political party.Expressing “no regrets” over the disciplinary action, Singh questioned the authority of the functionaries who orchestrated his removal. He asserted that the party originally belonged to former CM Nitish Kumar.“I will simply build my own party… I have no regrets,” Singh told reporters. “Whatever action has been taken, it’s fine. The party belonged to Nitish Kumar. Now that Nitish Kumar is no longer there in an active role, what is left of the party? Those who expelled me, what have they contributed? Now, they will not even get 10 seats.”The expelled legislator also claimed the JD(U)’s political influence had severely eroded and upcoming elections would expose its weakened ground reality. Singh further maintained his personal ties with Nitish remained intact, describing their relationship as cordial and expressing plans to visit him soon.On Saturday, JD(U) expelled Singh and his wife, former MLA Neelam Devi, from the party for six years over alleged anti-party activities. Alongside revoking their primary memberships, the party recommended cancellation of Singh’s membership in the Bihar Legislative Assembly under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
