Dubai to build a walkway made of 24-Karat Gold
Dubai is getting ready to add a very shiny new attraction to its many popular tourist spots. According to Gulf News, the Dubai Gold District plans to open the world’s first and longest walkway made of 24-carat gold before the end of 2026.The opening could come within the next two months, according to the timeline given by Rashid Al Harmoodi, Senior Director of the Commercial Sector at the district. According to an Emarat Al Youm report, an Arabic-language daily newspaper based in Dubai, he described the path as a way for tourists and residents to walk along a golden path inside the district.

The news has come along with another gold milestone. According to Gulf News, a pair of gold earrings weighing 16.514 kilograms earned Dubai two Guinness World Records, for the heaviest and the largest pair of gold earrings.The UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, unveiled them at a Joyalukkas showroom in the district on Saturday, 24 October.
What is Dubai Gold District?
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Ithra Dubai officially launched the district on 27 January 2026 as a purpose-built destination for gold and jewellery trade. It brings together retail, bullion, wholesale trade and investment in one place.It sits in Deira, in the area of the well-known Gold Souk. According to the launch press release, it has more than 1,000 retailers across gold, jewellery, perfumery, cosmetics and lifestyle, and welcomed shoppers from over 147 nationalities in 2025.At that launch, the district also announced a “Gold Street,” described as a street built using gold to attract tourists and visitors.
