Lucknow: Lucknow University has started biometric verification of scholarship applicants from Wednesday to minimise errors in the verification process and to ensure that applications are linked to the correct student records.According to an office memorandum issued by the university’s Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW), biometric authentication is being used to establish the identity of students applying for scholarships. The move is aimed at improving the accuracy of the verification process and reducing the possibility of duplicate entries, incorrect identification and discrepancies in student records.LU spokesperson Mukul Srivastava said, “Biometric verification will help establish the identity of scholarship applicants and ensure greater accuracy in the verification process”.He said in the absence of such a system, discrepancies in student details, difficulties in matching applicants with university records and the possibility of duplicate or incorrect entries could complicate the scrutiny of applications.
