From the fisherfolk of the Visakhapatnam coast to the devotional imagery of his mature work, V. Ramesh’s solo exhibition Sacred Spaces follows a single sustained inquiry across decades. The preview at CCA Gallery, Bikaner House, on Friday was hosted by curator and Threshold Gallery founder Tunty Chauhan.

The evening opened with a 30-minute performance by Navtej Johar, with vocals by Balachandran Raghavan. Conceived as a tribute to the artworks, it echoed their themes and left the guests spellbound.

From Fishing Coast to Devotional CanvasThe exhibition charts Ramesh’s evolution. In the 1980s and early 1990s, he focused on figurative depictions of the fisherfolk of Visakhapatnam. His mature work turned to allegorical and devotional imagery. The show also presents an entirely new suite of canvases and large-format watercolours.
