LUCKNOW: Days after pitching the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) as the BJP’s next major agenda item in Uttar Pradesh, Union home minister Amit Shah is set to lead an extensive statewide campaign, with the party planning rallies across all 18 divisions of the state as it begins preparations for the 2027 assembly elections.Party sources said Shah’s address at the BJP state working committee meeting in Lucknow on Friday was the first in a series of proposed engagements aimed at energising the organisation ahead of the electoral battle. He is also likely to be the chief guest at Ayodhya’s Deepotsav celebrations on November 7 and address a public gathering there. After Diwali, Shah is expected to address rallies in the remaining divisions, effectively covering all 18 administrative divisions of Uttar Pradesh.Senior BJP leaders said the exercise is aimed at galvanising booth-level workers and strengthening the party organisation well before the start of the election campaign. The BJP has also proposed at least 20 rallies by Prime Minister Narendra Modi across the state, with a minimum of three programmes in each of the party’s six organisational regions – Kashi, Gorakhpur, Awadh, Kanpur-Bundelkhand, Brij-Rohilkhand and West UP. The final schedule, however, is subject to approval from the Prime Minister’s Office, party leaders said.Addressing over 2,500 party workers at the state working committee meeting, Shah praised the Yogi Adityanath government for the robust law and order and development initiatives, and said a fresh BJP mandate would pave the way for implementation of the UCC in Uttar Pradesh. Drawing parallels with the abrogation of Article 370 and the construction of the Ram temple, he said the BJP had consistently delivered on its ideological commitments.Shah asserted that the BJP’s organisational strength made it a formidable force in the state. He also projected long-term political dominance for the party and urged workers to focus on strengthening the organisation at the grassroots.According to party sources, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed the meeting that an invitation had been extended to Shah to attend Deepotsav as chief guest, while BJP national general secretary and UP in-charge Vinod Tawde later told party functionaries that Shah would be addressing rallies across all divisions as part of the organisational mobilisation drive.
