Health teams intensify flood medical surveys, disease prevention initiatives

Lucknow: Health department teams continued medical surveys and relief operations in flood-affected areas on Sunday, prioritising patient care and prevention of water-borne and mosquito-borne diseases. A mobile medical unit was deployed in Mallah Tola, where 53 people were examined and treated during the day.Chief medical officer (CMO) Dr NB Singh visited Daud Nagar and Jehta to review healthcare arrangements and assess conditions in affected neighbourhoods. He said medical teams were conducting regular rounds in inundated localities and would remain stationed for as long as the situation demanded.“We are providing medicines such as Metrogyl and vitamin B and making arrangements to protect people from mosquitoes, particularly children,” Singh said. During the inspection, two residents who were found unwell were evacuated by boat and transferred to ambulances for further treatment.A 24-hour health camp has been set up in the area to ensure uninterrupted medical assistance. In Kailash Vihar and Hanumantpuram in Faizullaganj, ASHA and ANM workers carried out door-to-door surveys, distributing essential medicines, chlorine tablets and ORS packets.Officials said chlorine tablets were being distributed widely to reduce infection risks from contaminated floodwater. The department has also placed 108 ambulance services on round-the-clock duty in affected zones, while surveillance and preventive measures continue in vulnerable localities.Municipal commissioner reviews relief measuresLucknow: Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar on Sunday reviewed relief measures in flood-affected areas of Faizullaganj on Sunday following a rise in Gomti water level.He inspected Daud Nagar, Lohra Mau, Hayat Nagar, Gaulat Kheda, Munnu Kheda, Sukhlal Kheda and Saitha and took stock of relief and rescue operations.Officials were directed to ensure drinking water, relief supplies and mobile toilets in affected areas and continue pumping operations for water drainage.The commissioner also directed teams to carry out anti-larvae spraying, fogging and sanitation work to check the spread of water- and mosquito-borne diseases.Officials were asked to pay attention to the needs of children, elderly people and pregnant women and remain available in affected areas.
