UP govt to organise special employment day on Oct 12

Lucknow: The UP govt will organise a ‘Special Employment Generation Day’ on Oct 12 under the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) scheme to accelerate employment generation for rural workers and maximise the number of person-days created under the programme.Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who holds the rural development portfolio, directed officials on Tuesday to ensure that maximum employment is generated on the designated day.The VB-G RAM G scheme aims to provide 125 days of unskilled wage employment in a financial year to adult members of rural households while creating durable and useful assets in villages.Maurya said employment should be provided to workers according to their demand and directed officials to speed up implementation.As part of the special drive, districts have been asked to achieve 100% progress against their respective targets for generation of person-days. Officials have also been instructed to identify works from among the 375 permissible categories under the scheme that can provide employment to the maximum number of workers while also serving a public utility.As part of the special drive, districts have been asked to achieve 100% of their respective targets for generating person-days.
