Woman constable duped of ₹24 lakh on promise of govt jobs for sons
A woman constable was allegedly duped of ₹24.45 lakh by fraudsters who promised to secure clerical jobs in a government department for her two sons, police said.

Lucknow: A woman constable was allegedly duped of ₹24.45 lakh by fraudsters who promised to secure clerical jobs in a govt department for her two sons, police said on Tuesday.The victim, Shashibala, a resident of Vrindavan Colony Sector 4 under PGI police station limits, is posted as a constable with the Smarak Suraksha Samiti.According to her complaint, she received a call from an unknown number on June 10. The caller introduced himself as Jitendra Gautam and claimed to be the stenographer of the Home Guard Commandant in Gorakhpur.The accused allegedly told her that recruitment for 40 clerical posts had been sanctioned and assured her that both her sons would be selected. He demanded ₹24.45 lakh in return.Trusting the caller, Shashibala allegedly transferred the entire amount to a bank account belonging to a man identified as Suraj in multiple transactions between June 10 and Sept 2.When the promised jobs failed to materialise, she contacted the accused and sought details about the recruitment process and the money she had paid.She was then allegedly contacted by a woman named Kusum, who claimed to be a stenographer in the DGP’s office. The woman allegedly threatened her when she questioned the delay in the recruitment process.According to the complaint, the accused also attempted to convince her that the recruitment was genuine by sending her a fake nameplate and identity card bearing the name of one of her sons.The woman constable lodged an FIR against the three accused at the Cybercrime Police Station on Oct 4.
