Sasaram: A court in Rohtas district on Thursday sentenced Poonam Kumari to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 for the murder of her husband, Aman Kumar, in Oct 2022. Additional district judge Jeevan Lal pronounced the sentence after finding Poonam guilty in the case.According to additional public prosecutor Vidyasagar Rai, Poonam had conspired with Kamlesh Kumar, with whom she was in a relationship, to murder her husband on Oct 13, 2022, at Naraina village under Chenari police station area in Rohtas district.Aman, who worked at a private firm in Haryana, had been called back to his native village by his wife. The prosecution said Poonam had procured sleeping pills with the help of Kamlesh. After Aman fell unconscious, the two allegedly strangled him to death.To conceal the crime, they allegedly dumped his body along the Sivasagar-Chenari highway, around 800 metres from Naraina village.The case was registered at Chenari police station on the basis of a complaint lodged by Aman’s father, Murli Manohar Singh, a resident of Naraina village.During the trial, the prosecution examined nine witnesses. After considering the evidence, the court found Poonam guilty and sentenced her to life imprisonment.chamaria_alokad@yahoo.co.in
