GURGAON: A Nuh court has sentenced a man to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 in a mobile phone snatching case dating back to December 2021.District and sessions judge Sushil Kumar Garg convicted Asif, son of Ameen and a resident of Shikarpur village in Tauru, after the prosecution established the charges through witness testimony and other evidence.According to police, the incident took place on Dec 25, 2021, when complainant Arafat Khan, a resident of Ward 7, was heading towards Delhi Darbar hotel on the Nuh-Tauru road. Near a petrol pump, two men riding a motorcycle allegedly snatched his mobile phone and fled.Khan noted down the motorcycle’s registration number, which helped investigators trace the vehicle to a person from Tai village. A case was subsequently registered, and Asif’s name emerged during the investigation.After completing the investigation, police filed a chargesheet in court. Following the trial, the court found Asif guilty and sentenced him to five years of rigorous imprisonment.The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000. If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to undergo an additional six months of simple imprisonment.
