Jantar Mantar no longer a designated protest site: Delhi Police names Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground and CBD Ground as new venues for demonstrations
Delhi Police has removed Jantar Mantar from its list of designated protest venues, citing recommendations from a committee.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has de-notified Jantar Mantar as a designated venue for protests and demonstrations, naming Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in East Delhi as the three alternative locations.According to Standing Order No. 48/2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had constituted a committee to examine alternative venues where citizens could exercise their right to organise protests and demonstrations.Based on the committee’s recommendations, Jantar Mantar has been removed from the list of designated protest venues, while the three locations have been designated for holding demonstrations.Delhi Police said detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) governing protests at the newly designated venues would be issued separately. The order, issued by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar on October 11, partially modifies Standing Order No. 48/2022, dated April 28, 2022.
