NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday attached a residential property in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, belonging to an accused in a case linked to a cross-border terrorist conspiracy involving the proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit. The property, owned by Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama Gas, is located in Danihama village in Srinagar’s Hazratbal area. The NIA attached it under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.According to the anti-terror agency, its investigation established a direct link between the property and the terrorist conspiracy.“The premises were used for harbouring Pakistani terrorists and concealing incriminating material connected with the terror network. Investigation exposed a network of local Over Ground Workers (OGWs) working in coordination with LeT handlers to facilitate the infiltration, movement, shelter and logistical support of Pakistani terrorists for carrying out attacks against government establishments, security forces and civilians,” the statement read.

The NIA also revealed that a search conducted at Mir’s residence on April 6 led to the detection of two Pakistani terrorists, identified as Abu Huraira and Khubaib, who were associated with the LeT. An explosive-like substance, digital devices and other incriminating material were also recovered and seized from the premises. The investigation further indicated that “the accused had knowingly provided his residential premises as a haven for the terrorists and had allowed the property to be used for facilitating their activities,” the agency noted. The NIA is continuing its probe to identify and expose the wider terror-support network, including other OGWs, facilitators and individuals linked to the Pakistan-based handlers. The case was initially registered at Zakoora Police Station in Srinagar on March 31, 2026, before being taken over and re-registered by the NIA.(With ANI inputs)
