Lucknow: A 40-year-old woman was allegedly strangled by her husband during a domestic dispute in Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow. The accused husband, Rakesh, has been taken into custody for questioning.Police received information about the incident around 1.30am on the intervening night of Oct 15. Preliminary probe suggest that Rakesh was drunk when he had an argument with his wife Rekha Devi and strangled her. The couple has five children.A police team reached the spot and inspected the scene with the assistance of forensic experts to collect evidence. The body was subsequently sent for the postmortem examination.According to the deceased’s son, Prabhat Gautam, his father had consumed alcohol before an argument broke out between his parents that night. He said he had not witnessed the entire incident himself, adding that his younger brother had seen part of what happened.Prabhat said that when they saw their mother, she was lying on the floor. He ruled out the possibility of her being hanged and suspected that she had been killed by strangulation with a rope.Police are in the process of registering a case under the relevant sections of law on the basis of a complaint by Prabhat.
