115 families get property cards under ‘Mera Ghar, Mere Naam’ Scheme

Khanna: Punjab cabinet minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond Saturday distributed property cards to 115 beneficiaries in Kot Sekhon village under the state govt’s ‘Mera Ghar, Mere Naam’ scheme, aimed at providing documentary proof of ownership to families living within village Lal Lakir limits.Addressing a gathering, Sond said the initiative gives long-pending legal recognition to families that have lived in their homes for generations but lacked clear ownership records. He said the scheme would benefit both present and future generations by formally documenting their property rights. The minister said ownership records containing details of property boundaries, area and ownership have been prepared through surveys and digital mapping, making it easier for residents to establish their rights and complete property-related transactions. He added that possession of ownership documents could also help families avail of bank loans, subject to applicable rules and conditions, besides facilitating other legal processes linked to property ownership.
