2 condos get a month to procure fire NOCs after GNIDA told discom to snap their power
NPCL had pasted notices of disconnection at society maintenance office and main gate of the two socieites on Oct 10

Noida: Over 1,800 families of two societies in Greater Noida’s Omicron 3 get a breather after Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) gives them a month to get no objection certificates (NOCs ). It had earlier asked Noida Power Company Ltd (NPCL) to disconnect electricity to Plumeria Garden and Migsun Ultimo over alleged lapses in fire safety measures.NPCL had issued disconnection notices for Oct 13 and pasted them at the societies’ main gates on Oct 10. The directive followed a letter sent to the discom on Oct 7, informing it that the societies lacked fire NOCs. The residents, however, claimed that the Authority did not specify the lapses and blamed the builders for not providing them with certificates. Following their pleas, the societies have been given one month to procure the certificates. An NPCL spokesperson said Plumeria Garden Estate operates on a single-point connection (33 kV) and accommodates around 704 families, while Migsun Ultimo has a multi-point connection (11 kV) and is home to approximately 1,108 families. “We are bound by the Authority directive and had accordingly issued notices of disconnection to both societies on Oct 10, three days before the due date,” he said.Residents and apartment owners’ associations had contested the Authority’s actions. “Our fire safety measures are in place. We have even completed mock drills,” acting secretary of the Plumeria Garden Estate AOA Dev Prakash Verma said. “We have reached out to the builder regarding pending documents, such as the NOC for fire safety, which was not provided during the handover to the previous AOA.”Verma said the AOA is not responsible for fire safety deficiencies. He said the lack of coordination and clarity from the Authority is frustrating. The residents have written to the Authority regarding this. The residents of Migsun Ultimo have questioned the lack of transparency in the Authority’s survey. A group of residents met Authority officials Monday to discuss the pending fire NOC for three towers. One of the residents, Mahesh Sharma, said the pending NOCs were a result of the frequent transfers of senior officials. “We understand that renewing fire NOCs is a routine matter. However, we believe that delays due to administrative changes should not lead to disconnection of power,” he said. They also asked for a one-month extension. After the meeting, the Authority’s senior manager of the electrical and maintenance department, Saurabh Bhardwaj, issued letters to both societies extending the deadline by a month.
