2 women allege harassment, being followed by SUV
A police officer said no complaint was received so far

Gurgaon: Two women working in the real estate sector have alleged that a man and a woman in a black Scorpio harassed them, pressed them to go along for food and a party, and followed them through Sector 70 on Tuesday night, forcing them to take shelter in their paying guest (PG) accommodation. Police said no complaint has been lodged so far.“If any complaint is received, action shall be taken against the accused, based on the findings of the investigation,” a police officer said.In a post on X, the 25-year-old flagged inadequate street lighting on the stretch and urged authorities to improve lighting and step up night patrolling. She said she and her 28-year-old friend were returning from a post-dinner walk towards Elan Mall around 10.10pm when they encountered the SUV near a poorly lit turn towards Tulip Chowk. The woman in the front passenger seat, who introduced herself as Manisha, first asked them the way to Vatika Chowk and then said she was looking for a luxury PG with monthly rent of Rs 30,000-40,000. Believing her, the women offered to help and sought a broker’s number from a colleague. The man with her, who introduced himself as Ashish and appeared to be in his mid-40s, then began asking about their hometowns, jobs, salaries and rent, the 28-year-old alleged.“We wanted to leave calmly because we could see that they had been drinking and were seeming drunk,” the 28-year-old told TOI.As the women were about to leave, Manisha allegedly began vomiting, and Ashish asked them not to leave her alone while he looked for water. They stayed back, believing she needed help. The man allegedly kept making unsolicited offers, claiming extensive business interests and links with politicians. He also asked for their phone numbers, ostensibly to help them find work, and forcibly put Rs 500 into their pockets despite their refusal, the women alleged.“He told us that if we joined a gym, he could get us jobs as air hostesses. He also said he could get us projects worth Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh each,” she said. The women alleged that the man then opened the rear door of the SUV and positioned himself in a way that made them feel cornered, repeatedly insisting that they accompany him for food and a party. To avoid provoking the occupants, the women agreed to walk to a momo shop about 100 metres away, where they continued to refuse food and the 25-year-old returned the Rs 500. The man allegedly turned aggressive and abused her in front of people at the shop, they alleged. They finally told the occupants that their PG would shut its gates, walked a short distance to make it look like they were staying, and then ran.The women alleged that the Scorpio followed them. They sought help in the kitchen of a cafe near Avenue 69, but the vehicle turned towards its rear entrance, the 28-year-old said. One woman ran into a PG while the other hid behind a parked car. Passersby and a scooter rider helped them reach a safer stretch, and they returned to their accommodation around 12.15am.The women said they did not approach the police immediately as they feared the man might be influential locally and were unsure whether they would be taken seriously. They later shared their experience on social media.
