Buxar: Piped natural gas (PNG) service was launched in Dumraon’s Textile Colony on Saturday in the presence of Buxar district magistrate Sahila, marking a move towards providing residents with a cleaner and more convenient cooking fuel. The service is expected to enable the supply of natural gas directly to households through a pipeline, reducing dependence on LPG cylinders and easing issues related to booking, storage and replacement.Officials said PNG could promote cleaner energy use in the area, as natural gas generally produces less indoor smoke and fewer pollutants than several conventional household fuels, making it a practical option for domestic cooking. The launch is part of efforts to expand basic infrastructure and improve civic amenities in the district. The district administration said it was continuing to focus on strengthening infrastructure and public services, and that facilities such as PNG could contribute to improved living conditions and cleaner energy adoption in urban areas.Officials associated with the initiative were present at the programme. Further expansion of the service is expected to extend pipeline-based natural gas to more households, subject to network availability and connections.
