Lucknow: A retired police inspector, now a practising advocate, lodged an FIR alleging that Rs 91,550.62 was withdrawn fraudulently through his credit cards despite his having blocked the original card and never activating two replacement cards delivered to his residence. The complaint names the bank’s managing director and chief executive officer, its chairman, other bank officials and senior officials of a courier company in connection with the alleged fraud.The case was registered at Gomti Nagar Extension police station under Section 66D of the Information Technology Act, which pertains to cheating by personation using computer resources or communication devices.According to the complaint, the victim received transaction alerts on Oct 9 showing withdrawals totalling Rs 78,277.12. He claimed he had neither used the card nor shared its PIN with anyone. After noticing the transactions, he contacted customer care immediately, blocked the card, informed the national cybercrime helpline and also approached the cyber cell.The complainant alleged that suspicious transactions continued even after the original card was blocked. He further claimed that two replacement credit cards were delivered to his residence on different dates despite him never requesting them. According to the complainant, both cards remained in his possession, were never activated, and no PINs were generated.He also alleged that the credit limit on one of the replacement cards was increased without his consent. Additional transaction alerts later reflected withdrawals exceeding Rs 12,900, taking the disputed amount to more than Rs 91,550.SHO, Gomtinagar Extension, Gaurav Bajpai, said the FIR names senior officials of a private bank and a courier firm, along with other unidentified employees. “Officials of both organisations acted in connivance to facilitate the fraud,” the FIR stated.
