Patna: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Opposition while participating in the party’s ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ rally and padyatra in Bhagalpur, accusing Congress and its functionary Rahul Gandhi of undermining democratic institutions after facing electoral defeats.Addressing a gathering at Lajpat Park, Nabin asked Rahul to learn from his failures before making false allegations. “In 2014, 2019, and 2024, the people of the country have consistently placed their trust in the BJP. The nation needs development and strong leadership, not negativity,” he said and alleged that opposition parties accepted democracy when they won elections but questioned the electoral process whenever they suffered defeats.“If you win, democracy wins; but if you lose, democracy is in danger. When you won in Karnataka, everything was fine, but when you lost in Bihar, you started crying foul, claiming that votes were stolen,” he said.He warned Congress that if it failed to mend its ways, it would not be able to secure even the leader of opposition’s position in Parliament in the future.Nabin accused Rahul Gandhi and RJD national working president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav of insulting the democratic mandate of Bihar and misleading people through false allegations.Referring to the opposition netas, he said, “Rejected political forces were questioning constitutional institutions after being defeated by voters.”Speaking at the rally, senior JD(U) neta and deputy CM Vijay Kumar Choudhary said the NDA was committed to defending democracy and would not tolerate attempts to create political chaos.BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi accused opposition parties of spreading fear over the National Population Register, asserting that its implementation in Bihar had not triggered any unrest.NDA functionaries and ministers Nitish Mishra, Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, Santosh Kumar Suman and Deepak Prakash, Khagaria MP Rajesh Verma and former Union minister Shahnawaz Hussain were among those present at the rally.
