TNNLucknow: An alleged kidnapping of an Ayurvedic doctor in Lucknow’s Madiaon area has taken a new turn after police found discrepancies between the information provided by his family and facts emerging during the investigation.Police said a woman, Shipra Devi, also an Ayurvedic doctor, approached Madiaon police on Oct 6 and reported that her husband, Satyaratna, had allegedly gone missing.“According to her complaint, Prakhar Pandey had visited her around 2:30 p.m. the previous day and told her that Satyaratna had called him, claiming he was in Ganj and was being followed by two SUVs. An audio recording was also provided. Around 6 p.m., the family allegedly received a call informing them that Satyaratna had been kidnapped,” police said.Given the seriousness of the information, police registered a case and launched an investigation.“However, during the probe, investigators found several contradictions in the account and other facts that raised suspicion,” said Madiaon SHO Shivanand Mishra.Police said Satyaratna had allegedly taken Rs 7.5 lakh from a person on the promise of securing a job for his sister at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. He allegedly disappeared on the same day he was supposed to hand over the appointment letter.Police further found that Rs 17,000 had been transferred online to Satyaratna by named accused Prakhar Pandey on the same day.Technical and surveillance checks also reportedly showed that Satyaratna’s location was not in Hazratganj throughout the day.“Prima facie, the matter appears to be related to financial transactions. However, given the seriousness of the information, all aspects are being investigated,” the SHO said, adding that the case would be worked out soon.
