GBC 5.0 to bring 7,000 projects worth ₹7.55L crore to ground

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh govt is set to ground nearly 7,000 investment projects worth over Rs 7.55 lakh crore at the 5th Ground Breaking Ceremony (GBC 5.0), with projects spread across all 75 districts of the state.Reviewing preparations for the ceremony, CM Yogi Adityanath directed officials to ensure that approvals, land availability, infrastructure and other requirements for the projects were completed within the stipulated timeframe. He directed departments to monitor each project proposed under GBC 5.0 and maintain regular communication with investors to resolve bottlenecks on priority.Officials apprised the CM that the proposed investments included nearly 3,500 projects being processed through various departments, over 3,500 district-level projects linked to the Nivesh Sarathi portal and more than 100 large projects being facilitated by Invest UP.Around 90 projects involved investments of over Rs 1,000 crore each, accounting for nearly Rs 4.75 lakh crore of the proposed investment.The western region accounted for the largest share at around Rs 4.75 lakh crore, followed by over Rs 1.2 lakh crore in Purvanchal, more than Rs 80,000 crore in Madhyanchal and over Rs 60,000 crore in Bundelkhand.Manufacturing emerged as a major component, with proposals worth around Rs 2.75 lakh crore, while infrastructure-related projects accounted for nearly Rs 1.5 lakh crore and data centres attracted proposals worth around Rs 1.8 lakh crore.Energy accounted for over Rs 1.15 lakh crore and real estate for over Rs 75,000 crore. IT and electronics, food processing, steel and cement, pharma and chemicals, textiles and apparel, automobiles and tourism were among the other sectors with significant proposals.Reviewing the previous four editions, officials said over 16,000 projects had been included up to GBC 4, with more than 8,000 of these having already entered commercial operations, while the remaining projects were at various stages of implementation.The CM said the ceremony should not be viewed merely as an event for launching projects but as a means to accelerate employment, production and economic activity.“Ground Breaking Ceremony is not merely an occasion to launch investment projects. It is an important medium to give momentum to employment, production and economic activities in the state,” he said.The CM also reviewed the disbursement of investment incentives and directed officials to ensure that eligible investors did not have to make repeated visits to govt offices for approved payments.He stressed that the incentive process should remain transparent and time-bound, with payments made within the prescribed timeframe.
