Gurgaon: A 30-year-old branch manager of a microfinance company died after a truck rammed into his motorcycle from behind on the Heli Mandi flyover in Pataudi on Friday afternoon. The motorcycle rider, who was also an employee of the company, sustained injuries in the crash.The accident took place around 1 pm when Navikhan, a resident of Iklahra village in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district, was riding his motorcycle towards Pataudi with branch manager Sukhdev (30) seated behind him. The two were travelling to Pataudi for work related to group formation meetings (GFM) and centre group training (CGT).As they were descending the Heli Mandi flyover towards Pataudi, a truck bearing registration number NL01AD0037 hit their motorcycle from behind, causing both men to fall onto the road. Passersby arranged for an ambulance to take them to Sadh Care Hospital in Pataudi, where Sukhdev was declared dead. Navikhan sustained injuries to his hands, legs and head.Sukhdev was a resident of Nagla Hira Singh village in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh. Navikhan told police that the truck driver caused the accident by driving at high speed and negligently. He sought legal action against the driver.After receiving information about the accident from emergency response vehicle riders, assistant sub-inspector Pradeep Kumar reached the spot with other police personnel. They found the damaged motorcycle on the footpath and the truck parked near the accident site.Police registered a case at Pataudi police station under Sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 125(a) (causing hurt by an act that endangers life or personal safety), 324(4) (mischief causing damage of Rs 20,000 or more but less than Rs 1 lakh) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The investigation has been assigned to ASI Pradeep Kumar of Heli Mandi police post. A police officer said a notice would be served on the truck owner, following which the driver would be traced.
