Lucknow: Ringing a fresh alarm over vote theft by the BJP govt ahead of the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said 2027 would be a ‘do-or-die’. He also asked the cadre and functionaries to remain extra cautious about their conduct as in this age of social media glare, their every word and action was being subjected to intense scrutiny by rivals at every stage.“BJP banks on bogus votes as their strength in every election. Vote theft is a major issue. Party cadre and functionaries will have to remain alert at the booth level. The party’s aim is to be voted to form the govt in 2027 UP polls. It’s a do or die election,” Akhilesh said, addressing party functionaries at SP headquarters in Lucknow on Wednesday.Calling upon the workers to watch their action and conduct, the SP chief cautioned them to maintain discipline. “We cannot give anyone a chance to point fingers at us particularly in times when everyone is under constant public scrutiny. Our detractors have deputed all the manpower that they have after our party workers to malign our image. We have to be extra cautious. No one should give a chance to raise a finger at our conduct,” Akhilesh said.He said it was in the interest of the state and the people of UP that SP is voted to form the govt in the 2027 polls. “People of the state are convinced that SP govt was the only solution to BJP’s misgovernance that has destroyed the state’s economy, education sector, law and order and prosperity. BJP is running amok. Corruption has gripped every department of the govt,” he said. The SP chief said that the party’s PDA Praharis closely monitored the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and exposed instances in which Form 7 was wrongly used to get votes of SP supporters deleted en masse. “The BJP got SIR-2 launched, which is presently underway, to complete the agenda that it couldn’t during the earlier SIR. We have to remain vigilant and keep an eye on electoral rolls at the booth level,” the SP chief said.“BJP is conspiring to get votes of Backward classes, Dalits and minorities deleted from the electoral rolls because the party is against the SP’s PDA community. The 2027 polls are an election to save the right to vote. We have to stop the bulldozer rule, once and for all,” Akhilesh said.
