Lucknow: The intensive care unit (ICU) of Rajarshi Dashrath Autonomous State Medical College in Ayodhya will soon be linked with Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Lucknow, under a digital hub-and-spoke model aimed at improving the management of critically ill patients.The announcement was made by deputy chief minister and medical education minister Brajesh Pathak during the valedictory session of the third national conference of the Indian Society of Intensive Care and Perioperative Medicine (ISICPM 2026) held in Ayodhya.Under the proposed system, specialists at SGPGI will remotely monitor critically ill patients admitted to the Ayodhya medical college’s ICU through a central control room. They will also interact with local doctors and provide guidance on treatment protocols and clinical management whenever required.Officials said Ayodhya would become the seventh medical college in Uttar Pradesh to be connected to the SGPGI hub under the tele-ICU model.Pathak also announced plans to strengthen healthcare facilities at the medical college. These include the establishment of neurology, nephrology and gastroenterology departments, a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, and residential accommodation for medical and paramedical staff.The three-day ISICPM 2026 conference brought together more than 200 doctors and postgraduate residents from across the country.
