Lucknow: Confusion prevailed at Lucknow University on Friday as the regional higher education officer’s order declaring a holiday in view of the Legislative Council graduates’ constituency election was followed in some departments but not in others.Mid-term examinations were held in the faculty of law and engineering courses, while the department of social work postponed its examination on Friday. A BTech IV-year student, Vishal Agnihotri, said, “There was a lot of confusion before the examination, with some students saying there would be no exam while others said it would be held. .”A BTech II-year student, Rishab Arora, said the regional higher education officer’s holiday notice was implemented differently across departments, with engineering examinations held as scheduled while the Social Work department postponed its exam, leaving students unclear about the uniformity of the order.Students said the university should issue clear instructions so that all departments follow the same decision.LU spokesperson Mukul Srivastava said, “The decision rests with the heads of departments as the university is an autonomous body. The regional higher education officer cannot include universities in the holiday order. Departments that postponed examinations informed students through notices, while those that went ahead with examinations took the decision independently.”
