Patna: The state Congress on Friday announced a three-pronged mass contact programme from Oct to Nov to demand the resignation of chief election commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and raise awareness about voting rights, culminating in a ‘Dilli Chalo’ call on Constitution Day, Nov 26.The decisions were taken at a meeting at the party headquarters, Sadaquat Ashram, to review organisational activities undertaken between Oct 2 and 8 and plan the next phase. The party also stressed strengthening its organisation and mobilising workers at the panchayat level.State party chief Rajesh Ram, AICC incharge Krishna Allavaru, office-bearers and district presidents attended the meeting. State treasurer Jitendra Gupta, disciplinary committee chairman Kapildeo Prasad Yadav and MLAs Manoj Biswas and Surendra Mehta were among the other participants.The party will organise statewide outreach programmes and marches at block level from Oct 10 to 20 to engage people on voting rights.From Oct 25 to Nov 25, theme-based ‘chaupals’ will be held at district, block and village levels under the ‘vote bachao, desh bachao’ campaign. People whose names were deleted from electoral rolls will also be invited, with discussions focusing on voter deletions.The programme will culminate in meetings on the march to Delhi on Constitution Day, Nov 26.
