Dedicated helpline for GRAP violation complaints launched
MCG directed officials to implement immediate, stage-wise enforcement measures under GRAP

Gurgaon: MCG has launched a dedicated helpline, 9821395354, to encourage residents to report pollution-generating activities and violations of restrictions under Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).Residents can report violations by calling or sending a WhatsApp message to the helpline. Complaints can also be lodged through the Sameer app, social media platforms, the CHS portal and the MCG call centre.“Residents should report violations of GRAP restrictions through the dedicated helpline and other available channels. Public participation is crucial to controlling air pollution and ensuring compliance with GRAP provisions,” said MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya. The civic body has urged residents to submit geotagged photographs or videos, along with precise locations and clear descriptions of the violations, to help officials identify problem spots and direct complaints to the concerned departments. Dahiya said timely inputs from residents would help authorities identify violations and initiate action under applicable rules.MCG is also urging residents to comply with GRAP restrictions and avoid activities that contribute to air pollution, stressing that enforcement measures and public cooperation are both essential to improving air quality. On Monday, MCG directed officials to implement immediate, stage-wise enforcement measures under GRAP, warning against laxity in tackling open waste burning, illegal dumping and dust pollution. Joint commissioners, chief engineers, executive engineers, sanitation inspectors and other designated officials were made responsible for ensuring compliance across the city.Under the current GRAP-1 stage, triggered when the air quality index (AQI) falls in the ‘poor’ category of 201-300, officials have been directed to ensure regular lifting of municipal solid waste, construction and demolition (C&D) waste, and industrial and hazardous waste from designated dumping sites and industrial areas. Illegal dumping on open land must also be prevented. The directions require proper storage and covering of C&D materials, transportation of construction materials in covered vehicles, and the use of anti-smog guns and water sprinklers at construction sites. Officials have also been asked to ensure proper environmental management of construction waste.MCG has further been directed to enforce prescribed requirements at large construction and demolition sites, including restrictions on projects that fail to meet registration and other mandatory conditions.
