Ludhiana: Dump cow dung or dairy waste into Buddha Dariya and risk an FIR and sealing of your property. Municipal corporation (MC) commissioner Ankur Mahindroo Wednesday ordered officials to crack down on violators as part of efforts to check pollution in the waterbody.The directions were issued during a review meeting at the MC’s Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar. Officials were told to maintain vigil on the ground and initiate legal action against those found dumping cow dung or other dairy waste in the Dariya.The contractor engaged to lift cow dung from the Haibowal and Tajpur Road dairy complexes was also called to the meeting and directed to ensure regular collection of the waste.Mahindroo said laxity would not be tolerated and officials had been instructed to take stringent action, including registration of FIRs and sealing of properties, against violators.He also appealed to dairy owners to cooperate with the civic body and stop dumping waste into the Dariya, saying its rejuvenation required collective participation.
