Fake Army job racket busted in Danapur area, one arrested

Danapur: Danapur Military Intelligence (MI) on Tuesday claimed to have unearthed a clandestine job racket allegedly operating in and around the Danapur cantonment area, while Danapur police have taken a person into custody in connection with the case.The accused has been identified as Rajkishore Sah, a resident of Mahua in Vaishali district. According to the investigation, Rajkishore allegedly collected around Rs 75 lakh from several job seekers from Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi and West Bengal on the promise of securing jobs in the Army and other organisations, said Danapur MI officials.According to MI sources, the modus operandi adopted by the accused was to gain the confidence of job seekers before providing them with fake joining letters and identity cards as proof of their purported recruitment. During interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed details of the racket and the money collected from different people, sources said.In one such case, Jugesh Kumar, son of Parshuram Paswan of Aurangabad district in Bihar, was allegedly duped of Rs 6 lakh on the promise of getting a job at an Army mess in Danapur cantonment. Jugesh reportedly paid Rs 2.7 lakh in cash and transferred another Rs 3.3 lakh online to Rajkishore. Subsequently, he was allegedly handed a fake joining letter and a Danapur Army mess identity card, sources said. Following the complaint, a case was registered at the Danapur police station under Sections 316 (2), 318 (4), 338, 336(3) and 340 (2) on May 19 this year against the accused.The accused Rajkishore, who was facing similar fraud cases registered with Mahua and Ranchi police stations, was finally arrested by the police on Monday.Danapur sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Ajit Kumar said, adding that both MI and police are now investigating the racket and verifying the details of other people who may have been allegedly cheated in the name of Army and other jobs in other organisations.
