Jaipur: To raise awareness about organ donation and promote a healthy and active life even after organ transplantation, a cricket tournament will be held for the first time in Jaipur between organ transplant recipients and living organ donors.Organised by the Society for Transplant Athletes of Rajasthan (STAR), in collaboration with Rotary International District 3056, the event will be held on Sunday, October 25, here at the Railway Cricket Ground.Around 70 organ transplant recipients and living organ donors from various districts of Rajasthan will participate in the competition. The event is supported by Organ India, CK Birla Hospital, Mohan Foundation Jaipur Citizens Forum, and the Jaipur Division Sports Association (Indian Railways).Dr Girvar Sharma stated that the initiative aims to dispel myths surrounding organ donation and to promote the message that a person can live a healthy, active, and fulfilling life even after organ transplantation. Through sports, efforts are being made to boost the confidence of transplant recipients and inspire them to return to a normal life.Harsh Vardhan explained that the primary objective of this event is to connect Rajasthan’s transplant athletes with sports, encourage their talent, and motivate them to participate in national and international competitions.The upcoming World Transplant Games will be held in Belgium in August 2027, where eligible Indian athletes can also participate. Lalit Sharma explained that this event is an important initiative to spread the word about the importance of organ donation. One organ donor can bring new hope to many lives.Such events will foster a positive attitude towards organ donation in society and inspire more people to come forward for this noble cause. STAR and Rotary International District 3056 have appealed to the residents of Jaipur to cheer on the players by visiting the Jaipur Division Sports Association cricket ground behind the Railway Hospital on Sunday, October 25, from 8am to 2pm. They also urged people to discuss organ donation with family and friends and to inspire others by taking a pledge to donate.
