VARANASI: Former CBI Director M Nageshwar Rao has announced a new chapter in his public life from Kashi, taking charge as the National President of the Sarvajana Sanatan Party (SSP).Rao, referring to his nearly four decades of experience in security, law and order, and administration, said India’s reconstruction cannot be limited to administrative reforms and that the country needs to pursue modern development while remaining rooted in its civilizational heritage. He said the Sarvajana Sanatan Party’s vision of Sanatan goes beyond a method of worship and represents a way of life rooted in truth, dharma, duty, compassion, justice, self-control, nature, family, society and public welfare. The party’s vision is based on four key pillars: education, health, livelihood and civilizational reconnection.Under education, the party has proposed linking Indian civilisation, history and knowledge traditions with modern and global-level education. Its health vision focuses on quality and accessible healthcare for all, combining modern medicine with Indian health traditions. On livelihoods, the party has emphasised respectable employment and opportunities for youth, farmers, artisans, labourers, small businesses and entrepreneurs. The fourth pillar, civilizational reconnection, focuses on India’s languages, arts, temples, pilgrimage sites, festivals, knowledge traditions, family and cultural institutions as sources of national strength. The party said its objective is not to return to the past but to build a modern India rooted in its civilizational heritage. It said the vision is for an India that is technologically and economically modern while remaining connected to its cultural identity.Rao also said Sanatan should not be viewed only as an electoral symbol, but through its values in education, health, livelihoods, governance, culture and social life.He emphasised the need to preserve temples and pilgrimage sites as living institutions of Indian civilisation rather than merely places of worship, while promoting respect, transparency and meaningful social participation in them.Rao clarified that Sanatan is not against anyone and said the party’s objective is not to oppose any caste or community, but to work for all rather than create social divisions.Describing Kashi as the starting point of his new political chapter, Rao said India’s goal should be to balance modernity with its civilizational roots. The Sarvajana Sanatan Party has described this vision as: “Modern India, with its Sanatan civilizational roots.”Former CBI Director M Nageshwar Rao was accompanied by Sarvajana Sanatan Party National Vice President Mahant Tirthanand, Vice President Ritu Rathod, General Secretary Raja Saksham Singh Yogi, Spokesperson Babita Sharma, Uttar Pradesh Incharge Rakesh Tiwari and Organisation Minister Narnarayan Singh.(With Agency Inputs)
