Hazaribag: Hazaribag Municipal Corporation (HMC) will build a parking lot near Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH) here to ease traffic and address the problem of haphazard parking in the area.A day after mayor Arvind Rana inspected several parts of the city, two excavator machines began cleaning and levelling a vacant plot of land near SBMCH on Friday. Officials said a tender will be floated next week for construction work.“On Thursday, shopkeepers and residents complained about the lack of a designated parking space in the area. Motorists leave their vehicles outside shops and along the road, which shrinks carriageway and results in frequent traffic congestions,” Rana said.Following locals’ complaints, Rana discussed the issue with officials and transport department representatives. Land belonging to Chotanagpur Bank, located in front of the hospital, was then identified for the proposed parking facility. The proposed facility will hold 100 two-wheelers and 30 four-wheelers when ready and ease traffic on Main Road, which is also a commercial area and has several commercial establishments.“Improving the city’s traffic management system is a priority for the civic body. Civic problems should not remain limited to meetings and discussions but must be addressed through concrete action on the ground,” Rana said.
