Jaipur: Jaipur has received 96 of the 150 electric buses planned for JCTSL, but charging infrastructure has not kept pace with the expanding fleet. At present, the buses depend on a single charging station at Bagrana depot, which staffers say is inadequate at times. As a result, some buses are not always fully charged, and drivers face problems during trips. The JCTSL Employees Union said the single charging point has created operational difficulties for buses running on different routes, as they sometimes have to travel to Bagrana depot for charging. Power cuts at the charging station add to the problem and can further disrupt services, the union said.JCTSL managing director Narayan Singh, however, said the existing facility is sufficient for the current requirement.“Charging station at Bagrana depot is currently sufficient for us. However, a charging station is also being developed at Todi depot, which will take some more time,” he said.Singh said JCTSL plans to bring the remaining buses within the next three months. With the fleet set to expand further, timely development of charging infrastructure will be critical to keeping the city’s electric bus operations smooth and reliable.
