Katrina Kaif breaks silence on body-shaming trolls: ‘I would have been paralysed with fear if I let criticism dictate my life’

Katrina Kaif has opened up about the negativity she faces online over her appearance, breaking her silence on the subject after a long gap. The comments follow a recent public outing that sparked vulgar and disparaging remarks about her postpartum figure just a few weeks ago. Speaking at a London event for her brand, she didn’t respond to the trolls directly, but she did say that the criticism doesn’t shape her everyday life.

Katrina Kaif on social media and self-worth

The actress marked the first anniversary of her cosmetics brand with a public event in London on Thursday, where she talked about staying authentic and dealing with criticism and nasty comments online. Clips from the event have since been circulating on social media. In one of them, she said, “I think we really need to be careful in letting the narrative on social media affect our self-worth. If we start trying to cater to all of them, I think that really hampers your ability to make choices for yourself. Personally, if every time I face critique or comments, I let that dictate my actions, I think I would have been paralysed with fear and unable to move ahead in my life.”

Katrina Kaif on being her own cheerleader

Further into the event, when asked a question, Katrina said, “There are times when the world is going to celebrate you and other times when you have to be your own biggest cheerleader.”

Katrina Kaif trolled after Ganpati puja

Last month, Katrina was subjected to harsh trolling after she showed up at the Ganpati puja. Critics sidelined the fact that she is a new mother as she had welcomed her son, Vihaan, less than a year ago, in November 2025. Numerous people online came to her defense, and several figures from the industry, among them Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Sameera Reddy, and Soundarya Rajinikanth, stood by her as well.
