Varanasi: Jahanaganj police in Azamgarh district on Wednesday arrested a man accused of obtaining multiple passports by altering his personal details using forged documents.Police said the accused, Salman Ahmad (28), a resident of Salempur village under Jahanaganj police station limits, was booked after an inquiry found he changed his personal information and secured more than one passport.A case was registered at Jahanaganj police station on Sept 27 under Sections 318(2) and 319(2) of the BNS and Section 12(1)(B) of the Passport Act. During the investigation, Sections 336(3), 338 and 340(2) of the BNS were added on the basis of evidence.Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by SI Achchelal Yadav arrested Salman near Mande Border around 7.45 am. Police said he admitted to the offence during questioning. He was produced before a court after completion of legal formalities.
