Man killed by ASHA worker, kids; second wife injured
An ASHA worker and her children allegedly killed her husband Om Prakash by attacking him with sharp-edged weapons in a field in Kushinagar district on Saturday morning.

Lucknow: An ASHA worker and her children allegedly killed her husband by attacking him with sharp-edged weapons in a field in Padrauna police station area, around 10 km from Kushinagar district headquarters, on Saturday morning. The man’s second wife was also attacked when she rushed to save him.Omprakash Rajbhar (50) a banana farmer, owned 10 bighas of agricultural land. The injured woman, identified as Nitya, was taken to the district hospital and later referred to Gorakhpur for treatment. Police arrested Rajbhar’s first wife, Urmila, who works as an ASHA health worker.Police said an argument broke out between Rajbhar and Urmila on Saturday morning. Rajbhar later went to a field where Urmila was working on a field boundary. They quarrelled again, following which Urmila and her children allegedly assaulted Rajbhar on his head and abdomen with sharp-edged weapons, and he died, said CO Rakesh Pratap Singh, adding that when Nitya rushed to intervene, she was attacked and injured.According to Rajbhar’s daughter, the murder stemmed from a dispute over proceeds from the sale of ancestral land.Rajbhar married Nitya 18 years ago without divorcing Urmila, police said. Following the second marriage, Urmila secured a division of the household and continued living with her children in a separate portion of the house. She had also filed a case in court seeking maintenance.Rajbhar and Urmila had four children — three daughters and a son, Ajit. Their eldest daughter is married, while daughters Kajal and Seema are studying. He had a son and a daughter with Nitya.District hospital chief medical superintendent Dr Dilip Kumar said the injured woman sustained serious injuries to her head and other parts of her body.
