JAIPUR: A Jaipur consumer court has ordered the arrest of two senior Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) officers, including commissioner Siddharth Mahajan, after the authority allegedly failed for years to give a resident possession of a plot allotted to him under a housing scheme.District Consumer Commission-II, Jaipur, issued arrest warrants against Mahajan and JDA Zone-9 deputy commissioner Suryakant Sharma on Thursday. It directed the Jaipur police commissioner to arrest the two officers and produce them before the commission on Oct 12.The order came during the hearing of a contempt complaint filed by Jaipur resident Krishna, who alleged that JDA had failed to comply with the commission’s earlier order in a dispute related to the Nilay Kunj Housing Scheme.Krishna had applied for a plot under the scheme and was allotted Plot No. 454 through a lottery. However, he did not receive possession even after a year, prompting him to approach the district consumer commission. After nearly four years of proceedings, the commission directed JDA in 2016 to issue him a possession letter for the allotted plot.JDA challenged the order before the state consumer commission, the National Consumer Commission and the Supreme Court but failed to obtain relief.Krishna filed a contempt petition in 2020, alleging that JDA had still not complied with the commission’s order. He told the commission that despite its direction, Plot No. 454 had been allotted to another person.JDA subsequently allotted him Plot No. 7 in Nilay Kunj Scheme Phase-II, for which he deposited the full amount. However, Krishna alleged that the authority later changed the layout and reduced the plot’s front width, preventing him from obtaining actual and complete possession. The latest order follows the prolonged dispute over the allotment and possession of the plot, with the commission directing the police to produce the two JDA officers before it on Oct 12.
