Lucknow: Sarojininagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh on Wednesday called upon citizens to democratically and constitutionally defeat forces that promote casteism, spread social discord and undermine India’s cultural heritage.Describing Vijayadashami as a symbol of the victory of righteousness and truth over evil, injustice and arrogance, Singh said the festival offered an opportunity to reaffirm the commitment to social harmony and national unity.“Today, Ravana is not merely an effigy. Casteism, mindsets that spread hostility and attitudes that insult Sanatan traditions are also challenges before us. We must defeat such forces through democratic and constitutional means,” he said.Singh criticised those who, according to him, opposed the Ram Temple’s construction, were associated with the firing on unarmed kar sevaks in Ayodhya and remained silent over atrocities against Kashmiri Hindus and their displacement.He urged citizens to rise above caste divisions and uphold cultural values, social harmony and national interests.
