Over 105km of flood-hit roads repaired in Patna

Patna: More than half of the 1,103 road stretches damaged by floods and heavy rain in Patna district have been repaired, with restoration completed at 555 locations covering over 105 km, according to the district administration.In a statement issued on Wednesday, the district administration said it was coordinating with divisions of the road construction department (RCD) and rural works department (RWD) and regularly reviewing progress to expedite the repairs.Among the RWD divisions, Patna division has completed repairs at 53 of the 96 identified locations. Masaurhi division has repaired 11 of 18 locations, Danapur eight of 16, and Paliganj 17 of 73. Barh division has completed repairs at six of the 166 identified locations, with work continuing on the remaining stretches.Under the RCD, Patna City division has repaired 109 of 120 identified locations, while the Western division has completed work at all 129 locations. The New Capital division has restored 92 of the 355 damaged stretches.The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has completed repairs at all 130 locations identified under its jurisdiction.District magistrate Kundan Kumar said executive engineers had been directed to complete the repair work within the stipulated timeframe while ensuring quality standards.He also instructed sub-divisional officers to immediately report any damaged roads not included in the existing list so they could be taken up for repairs.The administration said monitoring of the repair drive would continue until all damaged roads are restored.
