PATNA: Police on Wednesday launched an investigation after a video showing three women and a man consuming liquor inside the surgical building of Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) surfaced.According to police, the date of the video could not be ascertained. The women seen in it are said to be cleaning staff, while the man is a trolley worker. Their identities have not yet been officially confirmed.Taking cognisance of the video, Darbhanga senior superintendent of police Jagunatharaddi Jalaraddi directed the Benta SHO to investigate the matter. “Police have started investigating the authenticity of the video, the location of the incident and the identity of the people involved,” the SSP said.DMCH hospital superintendent Dr Jagdish Chandra said the hospital administration would also verify the authenticity of the video and identify the personnel seen in it. “If the allegations are confirmed, action will be taken as per rules,” Dr Chandra said.It is yet to be ascertained whether the incident took place during duty hours or at some other time. No official information has so far been released about the identity of those seen in the video or the circumstances surrounding the incident.DMCH is one of the major medical institutions in north Bihar and caters to patients from Darbhanga and several neighbouring districts. The video has raised questions over discipline and monitoring on the hospital premises.
