Spurned by SP for alliance, Owaisi asks Muslims to stop slavery of Yadav clan

Varanasi: Spurned by Akhilesh Yadav for an alliance between his party and Samajwadi Party for the 2027 polls, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has asked Muslims to stop slavery of the ‘Yadav clan in red cap’.Addressing a public meeting in Azamgarh on Sunday evening, Owaisi said generations of Muslims have served Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav but except for exploiting the community as a stepping stone to form govt, they never allowed any Muslim to become a leader. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief said now no one has to remain anyone’s slave; rather, everyone will have to become their own leader. “Personally I want nothing, I only want to secure the people here their due and rights”, Owaisi added.Targeting Akhilesh Yadav, Owaisi said youth should dedicate themselves to their parents, not to the SP chief. “Muslims should not remain dependent on any party and must build their own leadership to secure rights and representation”, said Owaisi, appealing to the AIMIM workers to prepare for the UP Assembly polls and ensure victory for their candidates.Owaisi had offered to form an alliance with the SP to prevent the BJP from returning to govt in Uttar Pradesh but it was rejected by Akhilesh Yadav,Speaking in Azamgarh, Owais also questioned why Shibli National College in the district was not elevated to a university under SP govt? Except giving Rs 5 lakh to Shibli Academy, Akhilesh had done nothing, said Owaisi alleging despite Azamgarh having two MPs, 10 MLAs and zila panchayat president from SP, the development has not matched conditions on the ground locally. “Roads are in pathetic condition, the airport is lying closed and students are bound to pay high fees at colleges affiliated to Maharaja Suhel Dev University,” he added.Mocking the exchange of challenges between CM Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav for contesting Assembly poll from Ayodhya, he said Yogi should contest from Sambhal and Akhilesh from Gorakhpur to check their strength.Referring to protests at Jantar Mantar, he said detentions and restrictions would not weaken young protesters. He claimed he was among the first to oppose the 2024 law related to the Election Commission, while other opposition MPs stayed largely silent.Owaisi attacked the Modi and Yogi govts over encounters, bulldozer action against Muslim homes, shops, mosques and graveyards, and its proximity to industrialists.
