'They stopped her from speaking to me': Jaipur man names wife's sister, husband in suicide video

JAIPUR: A man allegedly committed suicide at his rented accommodation in Jaipur after recording a video blaming his wife’s sister and her husband for allegedly separating him from his wife and preventing the couple from speaking to each other.The video surfaced and went viral on Thursday, following which police registered a case of abetment to suicide.The incident took place on October 1 at Patel Marg under the Shiprapath police station area.The deceased, Mohammad Naseerup, a native of Madhubani in Bihar, was living in a rented house in Mansarovar and worked in fire-system fitting at a mall under construction.According to police, Naseerup recorded the video around 1.06pm and sent it to his wife’s sister, Poonia Khatun, in their native village.After watching the video, the family alerted Naseerup’s friend Shahubuddin, who rushed to his rented accommodation and found him hanging from a ceiling fan with an electrical wire.“We reached at the spot along with the FSL team. The body was Jaipuria Hospital for the post-mortem and later handed over to the family,” said a police officer.In the video, Naseerup alleged that his wife’s sister, Rizwana Khatun, and her husband, Mohammad Alauddin, had taken his wife away and were preventing her from living with him or speaking to him. He also referred to their two children and said he was sending the video to the police as evidence.The deceased’s cousin, Mohammad Firoz Rain, later lodged a complaint at Shiprapath police station. Based on the complaint and the video, police registered a case of abetment to suicide against Rizwana Khatun, Naseerup’s wife’s sister, and Mohammad Alauddin, her husband.“Allegations made in the video are being verified as part of the investigation. Statements of family members and others acquainted with the couple will be recorded to establish the circumstances preceding Naseerup’s death. No arrests so far have been made in this case,” said an officer.
