Lucknow: UP govt is gearing up to host a four-day National Tribal Festival in Lucknow from Nov 23 to 26, bringing together tribal art, folk traditions, handicrafts and cuisine from across the country. The event, planned around Tribal Pride Day, is expected to feature around 470 artists from 16 states and nearly 150 artisans and traditional cuisine experts.Tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh reviewed preparations on Wednesday and directed officials to organise the festival on a grand scale. Proposed venues include UP Darshan Park, Gomti Riverfront and UP Sangeet Natak Akademi.The festival will showcase tribal folk dances, music, crafts and culinary traditions while providing artisans a national platform to promote their work. Around 10 TRIFED stalls are also proposed to display tribal products.Govt is considering MP, Rajasthan or Gujarat as the theme state. To give the event an international dimension, proposals have been made to invite artists from Nepal and Sri Lanka, with discussions underway through the ICCR. A coordination committee is being formed to finalise arrangements and participation.
