Two youths shot at after argument in Patna’s Gaurichak

Patna: Two 17-year-old youths were shot at following an argument while they were on their way to school to collect certificates in Gaurichak police station area of Patna on Thursday afternoon. The injured, identified as Sumit Kumar and Aditya Kumar, both residents of Chandasi, are undergoing treatment at separate hospitals.According to police, the incident took place around 3pm outside Periya High School. Gaurichak police received information that two youths had sustained bullet injuries following an altercation.Sadar-II sub-divisional police officer Ranjan Kumar, who reached the spot, said the injured told police that they had an argument with Suraj Bhan, a resident of Periya, and his associates while on their way to school.“The dispute was related to passage on the road. However, it appears that they had disputes over other issues as well and had known each other for a long time. During the altercation, the accused opened fire at the two youths,” he said.The SDPO said Sumit sustained a bullet injury in the chest and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kankarbagh area, while Aditya, who was shot in the hand, is being treated at Gaurichak hospital. A forensic science team also collected evidence from the spot.Police are recording statements of the injured and their family members and are awaiting a written complaint. “We will proceed with further action after receiving the application from the family. The accused will be arrested at the earliest,” Kumar said.Police said further investigation would establish the exact sequence of events and the circumstances leading to the firing.
