Patna: Around 15 laparoscopic, endoscopic and robotic surgeries were demonstrated live on the opening day of BASICON 2026, organised under the aegis of IGIMS, Patna, on Friday. The procedures were streamed at Urja Auditorium to familiarise surgeons with advanced techniques.Dr Manish Mandal, organising secretary, said the workshop covered surgeries for gallbladder stones, hernia, achalasia cardia, rectal prolapse, bile duct disorders and colorectal cancer.Dr Lakshit Tomar from New Delhi demonstrated laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, while Dr Rajesh Srivastava from Gujarat showcased four hernia repair techniques. IGIMS surgeons Dr Sanjay Kumar and Dr Saket Kumar demonstrated procedures for achalasia cardia and rectal prolapse.Dr P K Jha and Dr Rakesh Kumar Singh demonstrated robotic surgeries, highlighting reduced blood loss and faster recovery. Dr Sanjeev Kumar Jha conducted hands-on endoscopic training for surgeons, particularly postgraduate students.
