35-year-old autorickshaw driver dies by suicide in public park

Jaipur: A 35-year-old autorickshaw driver was found dead at a public park near Prem Nagar culvert on Agra Road in Jaipur’s Kho Nagoriyan area Monday morning, police said. The deceased was identified as Hemant Rana (35), a native of Sapotra in Karauli. He lived with his family in Sundar Vihar Colony on Goner Road.Police said morning walkers spotted the body and informed them.Kho Nagoriyan SHO Sunil Godara said preliminary investigation suggested suicide and no foul play had emerged so far. “He was working as an autorickshaw driver and lived with his family in Sundar Vihar Colony on Goner Road. The family told us that he left home Sunday evening in his autorickshaw saying that he was going out for work. He later allegedly went to the park and died by suicide,” Godara said.A forensic team was called to collect evidence, after which the body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem.“No suicide note has been found so far. It is a case of suicide and we have thus registered a case of unnatural death. However, we are investigating the circumstances under which he took the extreme step,” an officer said. Police said a team would visit the deceased’s house to check whether he left any note there.Further investigation is under way.
