Lucknow: An FIR has been registered after a man alleged that his pregnant wife was molested and both of them were assaulted by occupants of an SUV following a roadside dispute in Purana Para during the intervening night of Oct 21 and 22.According to the complaint lodged by an Alamnagar resident, he and his wife were travelling from Purana Para towards Mayapuram when they came across an argument between bus passengers and occupants of an SUV. He alleged that two women and two or three men travelling in the SUV, purportedly under the influence of alcohol, began abusing the couple without provocation.The complainant alleged that the men molested his pregnant wife and assaulted both of them when they objected to their behaviour. He further claimed that the accused threatened them and intensified the attack.He alleged that after assaulting him, the SUV occupants drove the vehicle over his leg before fleeing the spot. Another person, identified as Pratikul, was also injured in the incident.Police have registered a case under provisions related to rioting, voluntarily causing hurt, intentional insult, assault or criminal force against a woman, criminal intimidation, and attempt to commit culpable homicide. Further investigation is underway.
