Patna: The JD(U) will celebrate Nov 24 as Good Governance Day every year, marking the day Nitish Kumar returned as Bihar’s CM in 2005 and began a tenure spanning two decades. He remained at the post uninterrupted for two decades and introduced 500 people oriented schemes and projects. It helped change the profile of the state by putting it on the country’s developmental map,” Kushwaha told reporters. He said the party had recently held Nitish Dialogue sessions across its organisational units on the Farakka treaty governing Ganga water-sharing between India and Bangladesh. The discussions stressed protecting Bihar’s interests during the treaty’s renewal. District units have been asked to prepare for the Good Governance Day celebrations.Jha described Nitish’s tenure as the beginning of Bihar’s turnaround, saying it had revived the party and ensured coordination among NDA partners.Nitish’s tenure is widely associated with efforts to curb crime, strengthen the rule of law and pursue development with justice. His govt has also projected zero tolerance towards crime, corruption and communalism as a key principle of its governance.
